Annie January grew up in a devout Christian household in Des Moines, Iowa, and was inspired by her mother to become a superhero. She joined The Seven as the youngest member, initially believing in the ideals of heroism. However, she soon uncovered the dark truth behind Vought's manipulation, the Compound V drug that creates supes, and the violent, selfish nature of her teammates. After being assaulted by The Deep and witnessing the company's cover-ups, she secretly allies with Billy Butcher and The Boys to expose the corruption. Her journey is one of disillusionment, resilience, and moral struggle as she balances her public image with her private fight for justice.

In Their Own Story

The first voting period ran from October 26 to November 16, 2024. Voters could vote for three, five, or seven boys per day depending on their iQIYI subscription. At the end of the second episode, all votes for eliminated contestants were discarded. The top 9 contestants were chosen through online voting via the iQIYI mobile app and audience live voting, shown at the end of each episode. Eliminations occurred in stages: after the Signal Song Mission, the First Elimination, the Second Elimination, and the Final Episode. Some contestants left the show before elimination rounds.

Reader's Guide

Contestants are color-coded by status: Top 9 of the week, final members of Polarix, eliminated in the Final Episode, eliminated in the Second Elimination, eliminated in the First Elimination, eliminated after the Signal Song Mission, or left the show. The debut group, named POLARIX, will be active for 2 years and 6 months and managed by iQIYI. The show is part of the Youth With You franchise.

Origins and Early Idealism

Rebecca Anne Campbell, born January, began her journey as a member of the Young Americans before ascending to the prestigious Seven. As a conservative Christian who manifested flight and light-manipulation powers from birth, she initially viewed her abilities through a lens of benevolent duty. Tragically, her childhood was marked by an accidental blinding of her biological parents immediately after her birth, leading to her adoption by a foster couple who raised her with rigorous religious values. However, Annie soon realized their affection was rooted in cynical mercantilism, as they groomed her specifically for Vought-American pageants. Her early superhero career was further disillusioning; she discovered that even within the Young Americans, she was forbidden from genuinely rescuing people unless it served a corporate narrative. Naively believing that joining the world's most powerful team would maximize her ability to save lives, she accepted the role of Starlight, only to find herself trapped in a system designed for exploitation rather than heroism.

Corruption and Exploitation within the Seven

Upon replacing Lamplighter on the Seven, Annie quickly discovered that the team was not a group of saviors but a collection of narcissists funded by Vought-American. Her induction was marred by immediate sexual harassment; Homelander demanded she perform oral sex for him, A-Train, and Black Noir or be expelled from the group. Reluctantly complying to keep her job, she faced further humiliation as her costume was forcibly modified against her will to be more revealing. The other members took sadistic pleasure in tricking her into embarrassing situations, with A-Train admitting they hired her solely for their amusement. This environment stripped away her faith and forced her into aggressive outbursts, profanity, and alcohol use as coping mechanisms. She realized that even Homelander had once shared her idealism before being corrupted by power, a revelation that deeply terrified her as she feared becoming just like the monsters she worked alongside.

The Relationship with Hughie Campbell

Annie's life took a pivotal turn when she met Wee Hughie in Central Park, bonding over shared hardships without knowing his true identity or her own secret. Their relationship became her moral anchor, described by Annie as more precious than gold, yet it was fraught with tension due to the lies separating them. When Butcher discovered their affair and threatened exposure, Annie feared Hughie would reject her upon learning she had submitted to sexual demands to join the Seven. She eventually followed him to Scotland to confess her past, revealing how her powers blinded her parents and how Vought manipulated her upbringing. Although Hughie initially fled in horror at her identity as a Supe, he later returned after admitting his own work with an anti-Supe group. Despite warnings about the dangers of their union, they agreed to maintain decency toward one another, with Hughie affirming his love even as they navigated the impending war between the Boys and Vought.

Defiance and Final Break from Vought

Annie's transformation from a compliant employee to a defiant rebel culminated in her violent rejection of a new, revealing costume and a fabricated origin story involving rape. This act of defiance led to a tense staredown with Black Noir, where she was only saved by Queen Maeve's intervention. Although she won the right to wear her original outfit, Vought capitalized on this modesty for their 'Believe' festival. Ultimately, witnessing the death and destruction caused by Homelander pushed her to renounce her Supe name entirely. She attempted to convince Maeve to leave with her, but when Homelander arrived to execute Maeve for planting cameras, Annie was thrown from the base. Watching Maeve's decapitation, she realized there was no place left for her in that world. Following Homelander's coup and the chaos in Washington, Annie fled New York, leaving Hughie behind to escape the fallout of the insurrection and fully abandon the Supe life.

Level Test (Episodes 1–2)

The Level Test involved contestants performing individually or in teams, with their performances evaluated by the guiders. Contestants could also vote on each other's performances. The contestant with the most votes, regardless of their grade, became the all-star center, called Polaris. Only eight all-star seats were available. Once all eight were filled, any subsequent contestant receiving an all-star rating could challenge a current all-star for their seat. The other contestants voted to decide the winner: the winner kept the all-star rating, and the loser was demoted to 2-star. Bold team numbers indicate performances that were partially or entirely unaired on broadcast.

Signal Song Survival Challenge (Episode 2)

The top row of the challenge table indicates the initial level assigned after the Level Placement Test, while the first column indicates the new level after the re-evaluation. This mission re-sorted contestants into new levels based on their performance.

K-Pop Generation Battle (Episodes 3–4)

Teams competed in a battle format. Winning teams and the Polaris (the all-star center) are highlighted in the color key.
